There is a price increase on the way for Prime subscribers
Now Prime subscribers will have to pay more for their monthly or annual Prime subscription
Here's what it will cost for an Annual Subscription to Amazon Prime
Beginning, on March 25, an Amazon Prime subscription will cost $139/year. This is a price increase of $20 more a year. This is really not that much more, and when you divide it by 12 months. It amounts to an additional $1.66 more a month.
When you consider the price of fuel, and higher shipping costs, you can see why they had to rasie their prices.
Monthly Subscription to Amazon Prime Will Increase as Well
The old monthly Amazon Prime susbcrition cost was $12.99 and this will also increase to $14.99/month. Monthly subscribers end up paying $179.88 annually. So unless you only plan of using Prime benifits intermitently throughout the year.
It makes sense to pay for a year upfront and save yourself the extra $40.88 when you join for a full year.
Prime Video Only Subscribers Won't See a Price Increase
If you only subscribe to Prime Video, your monthly price won't change. Amazon did not raise the price on their streaming only plan and it will continue to cost $8.99/month.
This price increase won't take effect until March 25, so you won't see the increase until your next Amazon Prime payment is due after this date.
With record inflation in 2021 and at the start of 2022, it's very likely we'll see more streaming TV companies rasing their prices throughout the year.
Netflix already increased their subscription price earlier this year
