Nvidia SHIELD 9.0.2 Update Fixes Many Bugs Leftover from the Last Update
While you won't find many new features in Update 9.0.2 but it does fix many things that were FUBARed from the last update. Fixing bugs, is something more software companies should focus on.
Rather than spending most of their time bringing out new features, which often go over like a lead balloon with their user base. Instead, more of their efforts could be spent optimizing their code, to make it faster and more streamlined, fixing any remaining bugs.
But there is always a constant battle between the Marketing department, which want the latest whizbang features, and programmers who want their code to run as efficiently and smoothly as possible.
The last SHIELD Android OS software update introduced many bugs. This is something SHIELD owners have typically not had to deal with much in the past. This latest 9.0.2 Android operating system update attempts to fix all the things the last update broke. And it should help make the SHIELD fun to use again for all those that adopted this awesome streaming TV platform.

Adds helpful notifications when connecting or formatting removable storage

[For the 2019 SHIELD only] It fixes a bug where AI upscaling could not be modified when using the Netflix app
Fixes a bug where other video apps would use the refresh rate set in Kodi
Resolves issue playing Dolby Vision content when Phillips TVs are connected
Adds developer option “Default to Rec. 709 for HD videos” to improve video color (enabling may cause crashes in apps like Apple TV+ or Paramount + app)
