Best Paid Streaming TV Service - Netflix
In 2022, streaming TV services have more competition than ever before. With so many popular choices from Netflix, Hulu, Disney+ Amazon Prime, Apple TV+, Paramount+, Peacock, and a slew of Live TV offerings. Cord cutters now have many choices which to subscribe to.
This is both good and bad, because now it takes shuffling between several streaming TV services to watch everything you used to be able to watch from one or two streaming channels.
Netflix continues to lead the pack going into 2022, and they still feature the most original content. They also have zero commercials, and unlike some others which now drip feed their new episodes one week at a time. Netflix still releases an entire series all at once. This will continue to thrill binge watchers.
But they better not get too comfortable, as big cable will be happy to tell you. Being number one does not last forever. And Disney is nipping at their heels. And some pundits predicted that 2022 may be the year that Disney could actually surpass Netflix in total number of subscribers. But this will remain to be seen.
The Roku Express 4K Plus was the most popular selling media player in 2021. Maybe it's because it is one of the least expensive 4K media players. But in 2022 it will face steep competition from Apple TV, Fire TV and Android like the venerable Nvidia SHIELD. Both the Apple TV 4K and Nvidia SHIELD are much more expensive. And while they are both excellent media streamers, Roku with their rock bottom pricing has little to worry about there.
The Fire TV 4K Max or new Google TV Chromecast would be a more fair comparison. But Roku still has both these streamers easily beat and most likely will hold onto their lead in 2022 as well.
OLED Televisions will continue to dominate sales well into 2022. LG, Samsung and Sony make OLED TVs that are all so close it's really pretty hard to decide which overall has one best picture. You really can't go wrong with any of these TVs. Just be careful not to leave it in pause mode too long because OLED screens still suffer burn-in. This is when a faint image is superimposed on the screen.
Consumer Reports choose the Samsung QN65QN85A, QN65QN90A, LG’s OLED65C1PUB, and Sony's XR-65A90J are the top televisions in their class. And you really can't go with any of these models.
Antennas Direct continues to dominate over the air antennas. Their 4V or 4Max over the air attic and roof antennas are both excellent for pulling in a 1080 HD signals from distant towers. With a good antenna, you can receive popular network channels that will keep you up to date on local news, weather, and sports. And best of all, there is no monthly fee. There are many great choices for DVRs. You can choose a fully Cloud based DVR from PlayOn, which lets you download your shows for later offline viewing. Or a hardware based DVR, that charges a monthly fee like a TiVo Roamio.

A TiVo Roamio records content from an antenna. But the TiVo monthly fee is not cheap. So if you only want to record from popular streaming sites like Pluto, Netflix and others, a PlayOn Cloud DVR will cost considerably less.
