Mini AirTV - This is a 4K capable DVR that includes a remote and comes with 2GB DDR4 RAM and 8GB eMMC Flash. This is their least expensive model that is $79.99 with a remote. You have 30/days to try it out for a full money-back guarantee.
Since these devices run on Android, they will be updated with new firmware as new versions of the OS are released. You can also use Air TV to watch Netflix and other apps available on the Android platform.
Air TV 2 - This model is in the middle tier price range. It is designed more like a tabletop media streamer instead of a stick or dongle like the Mini model. At a price of $99.99, it's still affordable especially compared to a Tablo which costs even more and requires a monthly fee for their guide service. The cost for the Tablo guide is $4.99/month or $49.99/year.
This Air TV model comes with two tuners. It also comes with 512MB of DDR RAM, 128 MB NAND Flash (SLC), and 2 MB of NOR SPI Boot Flash. Even though it has more memory on board than the less expensive Mini, an external hard drive would still be needed if you plan on storing a larger portion of recordings.
Air TV Anywhere - This is the flagship top of the line DVR from Sling for recording and watching on four TVs with 4 built-in Tuners. The 1TB hard drive is also built-in so recordings can be saved directly on this DVR itself.
With no external drive needed, unless you find you need additional space for more recordings. Then an external drive up to 6TB can be used for additional storage.
This unit is Sling's most expensive DVR model. It retails for $199.99 and it has the nicest looking design. But if you don't need 4 Tuners, and can get by with an external drive for storing your videos. It may be better to go with an Air TV 2, and a larger external drive.

If you want an affordable DVR, can't really go wrong with any of these Sling DVRs. It will expand your television entertainment programming with a nice mix of free over the air major network channels.
Because these are local networks, you can also catch up on local news, sports and weather. It only requires a good antenna, and a clear OTA TV signal that's not blocked by distance, or barrier limitation.
Just don't forget to do the required channel scan on your TV and also on the DVR to update the channels as soon as an antenna is attached. Any digital channel that comes in clear, can have the live TV movie or show, fast-forwarded, rewind, paused, and recorded for timeshifting or later viewing.
