YouTube TV Just Raised Their Monthly Price to $50/Month
First it was Netflix, DirecTV, and Now YouTube TV is also raising their monthly fee $10 more a month on their Live Channels Subscription service. And now many cord-cutters are not happy.
Many TV streamers thought they had it made when they dumped their expensive $100+ monthly satellite or cable TV bill. And they could pretty much duplicate much of the same live TV channels for a mere $40/month.
It was great while it lasted. And now we are seeing prices creeping upwards with several popular streaming TV service. Suddenly it's like Deja Vu all over again. Because constant spiraling prices is something many cable TV subscribers had to learn to live with.
Both existing subscribers and new will be hit with the price hike. For current members the new price takes effect on May 13. If you were grandfathered in under the $35/month plan, your new price will now go up to $50/month. If subscribing directly through an Apple TV or Phone it will cost $55!
YouTube TV Is Still One of The Best Streaming Services For Live TV
Even though it now costs more, YouTube TV still offers one of the nicest live TV streaming packages because they allows users to stream to 3 devices at once. And 6 separate user accounts so they can have their own profiles.
Their DVR service is also second to none.
YouTube also doesn't have the buffering issues some of the others live streaming service seem to be plagued with. It helps to have the resources of the Internet Search giant Google and their deep pockets to provide the best digital infrastructure.
Just Added: Discovery Network and The Food Network Plus More!
Even though the price did go up, The Discovery Channel, ID, Motor Trend, TLC, and The Food Network Channel were just added to YouTube Live. OWN will be added later in 2019.

Many Cord-Cutters Are Not Happy
Even though YouTube TV is still one of the best live streaming services around, the latest price increase did not stop the outrage on Reddit. Many cord-cutters were livid and their comments reflected this. With one news post generating 726 angry comments. You can't exactly blame them, with current YouTube TV subscribers facing a 25% increase in their monthly bill.
Here are some of the more interesting comments from the long list:
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. We Got Fooled Again!
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...
So now between internet and YTTV I’ll pay as much as I would for cable, for channels I never asked for.
The market always catches up. I'm not sure how people didn't see this coming. It's going to get worse when Fox/ABC bring their own streaming service to the masses and remove their content from NETFLIX, Hulu, and Prime.
We need more pricing options. $10 more a month isn't worth it for the channels being added for me.
They were CATV services from the start. CATV starts out reasonable and then raises prices.
This is becoming cable and satellite all over again.
I get Sling blue+new+DVR for $35 and already have PlexPass for locals. Don’t need 9 month of DVR, news is obsolete in 24 hours.
YouTube.tv, Netflix, Hulu et all may have increased their prices, but they'll have to do it about a dozen more times each to get anywhere near what I was paying Comcast, and even when that happens, I'll still be getting faster internet and far more direct control than I had before I cut the cord.
Even though many may not be happy with the latest price increase, it would sure be nice to have more options when it comes to choosing channel packages. A one price fits all is not the best way to go for many. And unless YouTube TV sees this, they very well could lose many subscribers to less expensive services like Sling TV and others that offer more choices.
