Deactivate Roku To Add Different Roku Channels

How to Use Different Roku Channels on Different Roku Models

How to Deactivate Roku

One question that comes up often is how you can add diffrent Roku channels across different Roku models located on the same home network. This is also handy when selling or giving away a Roku no longer needed. Here's Why the Same Roku Channels Are Added and Removed From Every Roku You Own

It's fairly common for families to own several Roku players that are attached to every TV throughout the home. But what typically happens is they all share a common Roku user account.

This is all fine, but the downside to doing this is everytime you add a channel, the channel is not only added to the model you may be using at the time. It's also added to every other Roku model you set up and and linked to the same user account.

The same thing happens when you delete a channel. The channel is removed from every Roku on your account. So you can see why it's important to unlink a Roku from your account when you give it away.

Because for examply someone you gave or sold a Roku to starts adding a bunch of private Roku porn channels, these channels also will show up on every other Roku you own.

How to Unlink A Roku Model From Your Account

This is something that should be done every time you sell or give away a Roku that's no longer needed.

Step 1. Log-in to your Roku account that was used initially to set up the Roku you would like to deactivate.

As shown in the photo, click the icon at the top right corner to access Roku Accout settings.

Step 2. From the Roku MY ACCOUNT MENU, Scroll down and you can either deactivate your Roku account all together. And this will close the account and remove all devices attached. Otherwise, scroll down a little bit further to where it says My linked devices.

Step 3. From the list of devices shown, choose the Roku model you want to remove and then under Actions click unlink. This will remove this Roku model from your current Roku account. The next time you access this Roku, a new link code will be shown on the screen requesting that you create and log-in to a Roku account.

If you don't plan to keep this particular Roku model, you are all done. If you do plan of keeping it, but don't want any channels shown added to this Roku on any other Roku in your home skip down to the next step.

To reuse this Roku alone from any other model in your home, log out from your current Roku account and create a new account with a different eMail address. Then log into the new Roku account and link it with code shown on the screen.

Now any Roku channels added will only be visible only on this Roku model and not on any of the others your family may own.
