Newegg and Amazon Accidentally Leaked the New Nvidia SHIELD Pro and SHIELD Streaming Stick
When Amazon put the listing up for the New Nvidia Shield Pro, it didn't take long for someone to spot it. It has since been removed but now we have definite glimpse of all that it will offer.
Besides a more expensive sticker price of $199, externally it looks almost identical to the last SHIELD model except for a new heavier duty remote control.
New Updated Remote
The remote control was a weak point in the last SHIELD models refresh. And compared to the first generation rechargeable remote that also continued to come with the last Pro model, the replaceable watch battery remote control has some issues.
Many users complained of constantly needing to replace batteries and other lock up issues with that particular remote control.

Since most SHIELD models sold were not the Pro model, the remote problems affected a much larger pool of users.
The new remote was completely redesigned and now has a triangular shape. It looks quite bulked out and hopefully will be less prone to the same issues as the older remote design.
New Updated Faster Tegra X1+ Processor
The the GPU also received a slight speed bump and will offer 25% faster performance. It still does not offer a SSD HD drive like the original Pro model. Which we would have liked to see.
This pro model will come with 3GB RAM, and 16GB of solid state storage for apps and games.
Higher Retail Price
It looks like the new model will cost $199.00 but hopefully there will be some discounts offered for the holidays.
All in all it looks like a solid upgrade and we are glad to see that Nvidia is continuing to support this awesome Android media streamer.
The overall performance of even the existing models is still off the charts and has every other Android Box beat by a wide margin.
On a side note, one really has to wonder how much Nvidia was paid by Netflix to prominently display their button on the new remote? One of the only 3rd party streaming services featured on this new remote.
Nvidia Releases New Shield Streaming Stick
Another model accidentally leaked on the Canadian NewEgg site was Nvidia's new Streaming Stick.
This is a radical new design that looks different than any streaming stick from Amazon or Roku.
This was also promptly removed but we are hoping that since they are already preparing their sites, it won't be much longer before we have two new Nvidia SHIELD models start showing up on the store shelves.
We were hoping for a lower price on the Streaming Stick but at this time the price on Canadian NewEgg was $199 which puts it around $150 in the U.S. which is $50 less than the SHIELD Pro on Amazon. A hundred dollar price point would have a lot more flying off the shelves.
But if you prefer the smaller footprint for the Stick model over the larger Pro it will save you $50. Both new SHIELD models will come with the new updated triangle remote control that offers a built-in IR blaster for TVs, a button/beeper to find lost remotes.
