Often this counter will appear if accidentally pressing the wrong button on your Roku Remote. Then there is a mad scramble to try to figure out how to get the blasted thing off your screen before the movie or TV show starts playing.

It's really quite annoying to have these stats showing in the top left corner of the screen if you did not want them there in the first place.

Here Is How To Enable the Netflix Playback Counter on Your Roku

This is what needs to happen for the counter to appear on your Roku. And sometimes the bit rate counter can be useful for diagnosing streaming issues.

Chances are, someone pressed the wrong button on the remote and that's why it showed up to begin with.

Before we can disable it,  here's how to get the Netflix Playback Counter to show up.

1. Enter the Netflix Channel on your Roku. Then choose a show to watch.

2. This is the tricky part. As soon as the show starts loading, press and hold down the Asterisk button on your Roku Remote (*).

3. This then enables the Netflix playback counter. Which will then be seen in the upper left-hand corner of your TV screen. If you wait too long to press the asterisk button when a video  is loading, you will then see a different options menu and the counter won't show at all.
